Construction workers routinely face numerous hazards, including heights, electrocution, falling objects, and more. One easy, efficient way to improve safety is to post construction labels and signage around the jobsite. You should know which hazards are present on your jobsite so you can help workers avoid, mitigate, or otherwise plan for those hazards.

ñ Always obey the signs, signals, and barricades when you see them.

ñ When you see a Danger sign, be instantly aware that the hazard is immediate and/or imminent.

ñ When you see a safety instruction sign, be aware that it is there to help ensure injury and non-injury incident prevention.

ñ When you see a Caution sign, be aware that it’s there to caution you about potential hazards, or against performing unsafe work practices.

ñ When you see a Notice sign, pay close attention to its instruction.

ñ When you see accident prevention tags, be aware that the tool or equipment is defective and should not be used, or that there is a source of uncontrolled energy that could not be locked out.

ñ When you are installing or erecting a sign, signal, or barricade, make sure that it is clearly visible to those walking or working in the area, and make sure any writing is easily legible.
